The Job - We had to reglue the fretboard of this Martin® Grand Concert that had lifted. This was not a usual
Martin® guitar,
as the neck is made up of compressed Stratabond and the top/back and sides are made from high-pressure laminated wood fibers.
The owner told us the guitar suffered a fall forward that caused the fretboard to lift. Thank goodness the damage only extended to the 6th/7th fret.
The fingerboard has cleanly lifted off, leaving a huge gap as shown in the photo.
Here's a little tip we learnt from an issue of StewMac® Trade Secrets -
drill some holes into your putty knife for easy application of glue inside tight crevices.
The "holey" knife sure made the job of spreading glue evenly a lot easier.
We clamped the fretboard down and allowed it to set for 24 hours.
We reglued the nut and strung the guitar up - repaired and ready to be played!
