The Job - Custom cavity routing to fit a Zvex Fuzz Factory as an onboard effects pedal into this LTD® F-2E.
Removing the double sided tape was painful!
Here are the guts of the Zvex Fuzz Factory. The circuit is small enough for a routing job.
Like most of our routing jobs, the job process starts with the drawing, planning and
marking of the cavity to ensure we do not remove more wood than neccessary.
Three pots and a 9V battery will fit perfectly into the cavity. We will have to route deep for this one...
We are ready to proceed with the routing now that the cavity is all marked out!
And the tedious routing begins!
Checking the current depth of the routing.
Cavity routing completed.
Routing the canal to the main cavity where the tiny but expensive electronics of the Fuzz Factory will be housed.
Remember the shaded regions of the masking tape in the earlier photos? Those regions will be routed to
accomodate
a custom-cut cover for the cavity so it will be flushed with the back surface of the guitar.
The final product! Sweet!
Here are the drilled pilot holes for the potentiometers of the Fuzz Factory.
Messy wires and electronics waiting to be wired up!
We are now approaching the end of the job after much patience and precision of wiring everything up.
Proceeding to custom-cut a cover for the new cavity.
Rounding the edges of the custom cover.
We concealed the pots with a layer of foam before placing the 9V battery into the cavity.
Everything fits perfectly!
Another shot of the completed job before covering the cavity.
The guitar looks surprisingly unmodded after our professional routing job!
Our job is done! The final result is a rockin' guitar with a custom built-in onboard effect and killswitch!
Our happy customer, Fyan, rockin' it out! Scroll down to watch the demo video.
